Electric shower installation in South Croydon, from like-for-like swaps to new showers on their own circuit. We check your cable and consumer unit first, then fit, test and certify, with a free quote.

Electric showers range from around 7.5kW to 10.8kW. A higher rating gives a stronger flow in winter, but needs a thicker cable and a suitable breaker. If you're replacing a shower, check the rating of the old one, as going up in power may mean new wiring.
Bathrooms are special locations in the wiring regulations, with zones around the bath and shower. An electric shower needs its own circuit with RCD protection, a correctly rated isolator switch outside the zones, and the right cable size for its length and route.
If your new shower has the same rating as the old one and the wiring is in good condition, the swap is usually quick. We still test the circuit and check the cable size, because older installations were sometimes wired for smaller showers than the one fitted now.
We check the rating of the shower you've chosen, the cable running to it and your consumer unit. If anything needs upgrading, it's included in your free quote. Your plumber can handle the water side, and we can time our visit so the shower is ready on the same day.
On the day, we isolate the circuit, run new cable if needed, fit the isolator switch and connect the shower. We test the circuit and the RCD before switching on, then show you the isolator and how to use it safely.
Call or send a message about the job. For urgent faults we aim to respond the same day, with no call-out charge.

When the work is finished, we test everything we've worked on and hand over the right certificate for the job.
Usually, yes, but the cable and breaker must suit the new rating. A 10.5kW shower, for example, often needs thicker cable than an 8.5kW one. We check what's there and tell you if the wiring needs upgrading before you buy the shower.
A new shower circuit is notifiable work, so you should receive an Electrical Installation Certificate and the job is reported to building control. A like-for-like replacement on an existing circuit usually needs a Minor Works Certificate. Either way, we test the circuit and give you the paperwork.
Common causes include a failing heating element, water getting into the unit or a loose connection that overheats. Old wiring that's too thin for the shower can also trip the breaker. Stop using it and have it checked, as the fault can get worse quickly.
A like-for-like swap usually takes a few hours. A new shower that needs a fresh circuit from the consumer unit can take most of a day, depending on the cable route. We'll give you a time estimate with the quote.
