Smart EV charger installation in South Croydon, with chargers that meet the GB smart charging rules. We fit and set up the charger so you can schedule charging, track energy use and charge at cheaper times.

Since 2022, chargers sold for homes and workplaces in Great Britain must be smart. They have to connect to the internet, let you schedule charging, come set to avoid peak times by default and include security features. This helps keep demand on the grid lower in the evening.
Beyond the basics, useful features include load balancing, which protects your main fuse, solar diverting for homes with panels, and links with smart tariffs that change price through the day. Some chargers also let you lock the charger so no one else can use it.
A smart charger needs a steady connection to work properly, through Wi-Fi, a network cable or mobile data. If your router is far from the drive, we can suggest the best option. Keeping the app and charger software up to date also keeps security features current.
We talk through how you drive, your energy tariff and whether you have solar panels, then suggest a charger with the features you'll actually use. We check your supply, earthing and the Wi-Fi signal at the charger position, and give you a free quote.
After fitting and testing the charger, we connect it to the internet, link it to the app and set your charging schedule. If you have solar panels or a smart tariff, we set those features up too, so the charger works the way you want from the first night.
Call or send a message about the job. For urgent faults we aim to respond the same day, with no call-out charge.
An electrician comes out, checks the job and talks you through the options, then you get a free, no-obligation quote.
When the work is finished, we test everything we've worked on and hand over the right certificate for the job.
Usually not, as most older chargers lack the hardware the smart rules require. You can keep using an older charger that's working safely, but if you want scheduling and tariff features, replacing it with a smart model is the simplest route. We can often reuse the existing circuit if it's suitable.
Every smart charger can be scheduled to charge at set times, which works with any off-peak tariff. Some tariffs go further and control charging automatically, but only with certain chargers. If you have a tariff in mind, tell us and we'll suggest a compatible charger.
It will still charge your car. Depending on the model, it may fall back to its last schedule or charge straight away when you plug in. Features like remote control and live energy data come back once the connection returns.
Yes. Scheduling alone lets you charge on cheaper overnight rates, which is where most of the savings come from. Load balancing also protects your main fuse. Solar features are a bonus if you add panels later, but they aren't the main reason to choose a smart charger.
