Emergency lighting installation in South Croydon for offices, shops, workplaces and blocks of flats. We install escape route lights and exit signs to the British Standard, test them and leave you with the records you need.

Most non-domestic premises, including offices, shops, restaurants and the common parts of blocks of flats, need emergency lighting under fire safety law. The person responsible for the building must make sure people can see their way out if the power fails, and the fire risk assessment sets out what's needed.
Non-maintained emergency lights only come on when the power fails. Maintained fittings stay lit all the time and keep working during a power cut, which suits places like cinemas and some exit signs. Most fittings run for three hours on battery, which is the usual duration for occupied buildings.
Escape routes, exit doors and changes of direction come first, along with stairs, fire alarm call points and firefighting equipment. Large open areas may need anti-panic lighting, and some rooms need extra light for tasks that must be shut down safely.
We start with your fire risk assessment and a walk round the building to see the escape routes and the existing lighting. We then design a layout to BS 5266, choose suitable fittings and exit signs, and give you a free quote with drawings or a clear list.
We install the fittings, usually on the local lighting circuits so they sense a power failure correctly, and fit test switches where they're needed. Once everything is installed, we carry out a full-duration test and hand over the certificate and a log book.
Call or send a message about the job. For urgent faults we aim to respond the same day, with no call-out charge.
An electrician comes out, checks the job and talks you through the options, then you get a free, no-obligation quote.
When the work is finished, we test everything we've worked on and hand over the right certificate for the job.
Most shops do, but the amount depends on the size, layout and how much natural light the escape route gets. A small shop with a short, obvious route to the door may need very little. Your fire risk assessment will say what's required, and we can install to match it.
The shared parts often do, particularly enclosed stairwells and corridors without enough natural light. Inside each flat it isn't usually required. The freeholder or managing agent is responsible, and the fire risk assessment for the building should set out what's needed.
Most buildings use fittings rated for three hours, which allows time for people to leave and for the building to be used again safely if the power is restored. Some premises that are evacuated straight away can use one-hour fittings, but three hours is the usual choice.
Sometimes. Many standard LED panels and battens are available with an emergency battery pack built in, and some existing fittings can be converted. Exit signs and extra fittings are often still needed along escape routes, which we'll show on the layout.
